TED is an interesting Brand to follow as it has high profile members from all over the world talking about everything from psychology and science to public issues and politics. I have been watching them for a while, in fact I even wrote a previous Global Good article about one of their discussions / topics online and wanted to revisit the subject with some more insight into the brand TED itself.
( Previous Global Good Group article http://globalgoodgroup.com/blog/the-concept-of-why-and-simon-sinek/ )
According to Wikipedia,
“Past presenters include Bill Clinton, Jane Goodall, Malcolm Gladwell, Al Gore, Gordon Brown, Richard Dawkins, Bill Gates, educator Salman Khan, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and many Nobel Prize winners.[4] TED’s current curator is the British former computer journalist and magazine publisher Chris Anderson.”
The events are in Long Beach, Ca as well as Palm Springs, Ca ( one of my favorite vacation areas since childhood ). These locations are strategically wise because they blend a mix of the Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego human capital all together in central areas they can all reach to discuss these issues and further the world’s understandings of technology, science, and more.
Wikipedia also explained that,
“From 2005 to 2009, three $100,000 TED Prizes were awarded annually to help its winners realize a chosen wish to change the world. From 2010, in a changed selection process, a single winner is chosen to ensure that TED can maximize its efforts in achieving the winner’s wish. Each winner unveils their wish at the main annual conference. “
Hm, Global Good Readers, I think Global Good Networks and Global Good Group fit nicely into this concept of creative ways to Change The World. You should vote for co-founders Rick Jeffries and I ( Josh Bois ) to be presenters at TED and connect with other major movers and shakers who with power, reach, capital, and influence so we can better shape the future.
TED’s Mission Statement is:
“We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. So we’re building here a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world’s most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other.”
