After going to a wedding in the Dominican Republic, three unlucky New Yorkers have apparently contracted one of the world’s most infamous diseases. Fortunately, with the power of modern medicine all three people who contracted cholera have since recovered according to a medical epidemiologist for the city Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as they told the New York Times on Saturday.
They have since involved the CDC ( Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ) in Atlanta to determine if this case of cholera is similar to the strain found in Haiti during the October.
Total, there have been three reported cholera deaths in the Dominican Republic.
